It’s always a controversial when you talk about drug addiction and homelessness. It seems that some people are OK with sweeping it under the rug, just as long as it’s not staring them in the face. Harsh start to a blog; maybe.
I’ve heard that there’s been a proposal submitted to the Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP) for the redevelopment of Freeman House on Crescent Street in Armidale. There’s always been a need to provide real community support for Armidale locals doing it tough, so I for one am all for the redevelopment as long as it’s done right, and controlled properly. I want to see people who need help, get it. I want to see long term solutions, not short.
There is a meeting on the afternoon of the 9th of March at the ADC Council Chambers to which local community members are welcome to attend. It might be worth going just to find out if the development plans are really what I hope they are. Click on the website link above for further details about this development.
