With winter on its way, it’s time to start thinking about ways to keep your home warm during the cooler weather.
For those with wood heaters in their homes, the Armidale Dumaresq Council is offering rebates to replace them with environmentally friendly alternatives.
There are a lot of reasons why Armidale residents might be looking to replace their wood heaters. Some people simply find that they create a lot of mess from the kindling and firewood, and others are concerned about the effects that wood heaters have on the environment – a lot of old wood heaters don’t meet standards on emission levels and contribute to local air pollution, which becomes a serious concern in Armidale during the winter months.
So with Armidale striving to be a clean, healthy and environmentally friendly city, the local council is offering up to $1,000 to local residents who replace their wood heaters with a more environmentally-friendly heating source, such as electricity or flued gas. More approved heating alternatives can be found at the Armidale Dumaresq Council website.
Armidale can get very cold in the winter months so the council scheme offers a great incentive for local residents to move over to renewable energy sources to heat their homes and also to change over to an energy source that will be cheaper for the household to run.
