Armidale residents were recently asked to take part in a random telephone survey designed to help measure our community wellbeing – and apparently we performed pretty well.
The results of the survey showed that local residents have high levels of satisfaction regarding community issues such as local government services, infrastructure and community connectedness.
When compared to previous surveys conducted, it was found that Armidale residents are now happier with services in the area such as the state of local roads; the Council’s effort to become carbon neutral; Council’s efficiency/effectiveness/value for money/; improvements to public transport; the state of local footpaths; and ease of accessing government services.
There are some local issues that need working on however, such as the growth of renewable energy use, Council engagement and the accessibility/appearance of local areas, and the Armidale Dumaresq Council have stated that they will investigate these findings to find out what can be done to improve the aspects of the community that people aren’t as satisfied with.
Overall, it seems that most Armidale residents are pretty happy with what the local community has to offer. Like any community, there will always be aspects that need improving, but it can be denied that Armidale is a great place to live and we’re very lucky to be able to call this place home.
If you live in Armidale –what did you think of the survey results? Did you agree with the findings?
